Spring Sessions

February 4, 2017

Spring Sessions…

February always tends to be a busy month full of some of our best practices as an Art Studio. Join us for community art events, pottery classes, painting workshops and so much more!

First Friday Open House and Art Exhibition

Artivities Studio and Gallery invites you to join us for Voice: A Call for Conversation. For the first time in the history of our gallery, we will open our exhibition with white walls, as a symbolic landscape. We invite you: artists, non-artists, activists, non-activists, women, men and children of all ages, abilities, creeds and colors to adorn our walls with your artistic voice. We ask you to bring a piece of artwork with you to ‘start the conversation’. We want to see how you share your voice through your art in this salon style setting as we provide an open forum for constructive discussion. This will be a peaceful gathering with music and light snacks. This event will last from 6:30-8:30 pm. Hanging artwork must be wired to hang. Sculptural work is welcome. This show will be on display for one night only as we gather to generate conversations using art as our catalyst.

Pottery Classes

Our pottery studio is active and fun! We enjoy teaching everything from cups to tea pots, bowls, plates planters and so much more. We provide classes and open studio times on Tuesday evenings, Thursdays afternoon, and Saturday morning and afternoon. For more information visit our pottery class page.

Painting Workshops for Beginners

We offer painting workshops for beginners in the form of wine and paint classes and private lessons. These art classes teach simple painting techniques and basic brush strokes to help you learn the essentials of paint application and technique. You won’t even realize how much you are learning because you will be having so much fun! For more information on paint nights check out our calendar.

Sessions for Kids

We offer open studio sessions for young learners Wednesday through Friday of each week during the school year. These sessions offer exploratory time, during which children are invited to get their hands dirty in a variety of different mediums. For more information on art classes and workshops for kids, check out our after school and homeschool pages.

Private Parties

Art+Activities = Artivities! Are you looking for a fun way to gather friends or family? Think of us for your next event. We offer space and amenities for catered food, byob drinks and gatherings for up to 30 people. Use our gallery event space to enjoy a great party paired with your favorite type of art project. Back to School at Artivities

August 8, 2016

Artivities Studio and Gallery has a lot to offer for back to school! We are excited to unveil our after school program, home school classes and continuing art education for hobbyists and professional artists alike!

Back to School at Artivities

Our back to school program is designed for children 10 and up. Although we have a suggested age range, we take into consideration that younger children may accompany their older siblings. We work with families to design the best situation for after school. Our program runs from 3:00 pm-5:30 pm Monday- Friday, beginning September 5th. For more information please see Artivities After School, beneath the ‘for kids’ tab on our menu bar.

Home School Art Classes

Artivities classes for home school students begin September 5th, 2016 and run for 12 weeks. Sessions end the last week in November, leaving December open for family and travel. Students may sign up for one or two classes per week and will explore core concepts such as Science, Math, History and Communication Arts through the study of art and art making. To find more information, please see Home School Classes, beneath the ‘for kids’ tab on our menu bar.

In the Gallery

Don’t miss the very special performance of local musician Jin X, who will perform the music of Prince, live in our gallery. This one night only house concert will be a small concert with limited seating. This is a free event with a suggested donation of $10 at the door. Guests are invited to BYOB. For more information on this event, please see our online event calendar.

During the month of August, we feature Barbara A. Williams, a folk artist depicting family ties and Ozark studies through a series of etchings, collages and photographs. Williams is a local artist of West Plains, Missouri and an adjunct professor of art at Missouri State University-West Plains. We will feature this show from August 5th until August 30th. Williams will give an art talk in reference to her work on August 18th, 2016 from 6-8 pm. Please see our online calendar for more information.

Next month we will feature the eclectic work of local Springfield artist, Darlene Copeland Prater.
